Determined like a one-way street
To gather all the skills he´ll need
To always lead the way

And I couldn´t keep up with the pace he´d set
Because I hadn´t spelt out all my dreams just yet
It´s not something I regret

But why did he try to forsake me?
Was he hoping to break free?

So I tried to be his steady island
Until we´d figure out a plan
How to get our aching heart to align again

So I took my thoughts apart and laid them out
Because this was something I felt strongly about
But he just walked away

Why did he forsake me?
Why did he break free?

I spent a year waving at him
Hoping I would get a little more than just a smile
It took some time to know it was over
Thought it had started out so well
And as my heart was healing,
It felt so good to break free
From my story

It´s been a while since my heart has belonged
And still I wonder who was right and who was wrong
But I just have to let it go

Because even though I had a looted heart
I know, he never meant to take it apart
It was just a bitter end to a rosy start

I know, he never tried to forsake me
